A team fighting for 1st place in our league, who beat us 5-1 last time out, not the fixture Matt Keston was so happy to see at 3pm on New Years Day, but despite the low numbers of squad members available, we did it yet again and shocked the league with another big result against one of the runaway top 4 teams. An absolutely superb performance from everyone in the team, the only disappointment being that we conceded twice from a corner, but heads didn’t go down as we conceded late and salvaged a draw against strong opposition.

Following a tight first half with few chances, the second half exploded and both teams had so many chances that a draw, in the end, was a fair result; we missed a number of one-on-one's whilst they hit the woodwork twice and Dave Shooter in goal made some important saves.

We started very strong scoring in just the 2nd minute, as Isaac Kahtan crossed the ball from the left, the goalkeeper punched it away to Nate Sadoun who calmly put the ball in the back of the net. For the rest of the first half, we created very little and soaked up a lot of pressure trying to defend the lead. We were unfortunately undone from a corner in the 40th minute as their big centre back had a free header from close range and we went into halftime 1-1.

We decided to come back out for the second half more attacking and it worked instantly as we won a corner, in which James Green played across the floor and debutant defender Eilon Levi swept home to make it 2-1 after 2 minutes of the second half.

The second half then became a really big battle with chances at either end, we were fighting brilliantly and the defending was outstanding. The game changed slightly though on the 65th minute when their captain got sent off for a second yellow - by the end of the game, there were very players that didn’t have a yellow card, the most given out in a game this season. Despite the man advantage, we couldn’t finish our chances and Estudiantes opened us up for the first time from open play in the 80th minute to equalise, the first real-time we lapsed in concentration in the game.

Just after we had missed two good chances to retake the lead, Estudiantes scored again from a corner with just minutes remaining. We then went all-out attack and in the 92nd minute, a ball from James found Nate on the edge of the box who hit the ball well into the bottom corner and equalised.

One last big save at the end from Dave Shooter meant the game finished 3-3 and it was a great point. We now have 3 games against teams next to us in the table and Matt Keston said he ''expect 9 points from the next 3 games''.
