It was a virile and aggressive game, our opposition was ruthless in their play and we ultimately suffered the consequences of allowing them to play their game.
From the moment the referee blew his whistle to kick off, they came at us with full force and brought the occasion to us. Shell-shocked by their offensive play in the opening minutes, the Beez nearly scored from their first attack, but only minutes later they would rectify that with a goal in the 7th minute slotting the ball past Mikey in a one-on-one.
But it didn't take too long for us to respond, as 4 minutes later, Eyal Cumartesi cuts in onto his right from the left-hand side and unleashes a fantastic long ball to find Roman Shapiro on the edge of the box, who managed to get his foot onto the ball before the keeper and score. Game on, 1-1.
After the leveller from Roman, the spirit of the day got to many of us and saw a lot of big tackles and aggression from both sides. We were also dealt some misfortune as Yoni Tal pulled his hamstring and signalled to the bench to be replaced. Shortly afterwards, and after a quick counter-attack, the Beez were 2-1 up.
After 20 mins, and after producing one of the assists of the season, Eyal is then sent off with a straight red card for a deliberate handball inside the penalty area. The resulting penalty was denied by Mikey who managed to save the ball with his shins and keep the score at 2-1 from the spot.
Now on 10-men, the advantage was theirs. They started to gain more of a foothold of the game and continued their attacks on goal. Their pace on the wings proved to be too much as their offensive rhythm began to grow. In the 31st minute, our opponets once again caught us out with a clever ball over the top to make it 3-1.
In the 40th minute, just before half-time, their captain is sent off for a bad challenge on one of us and then his violent conduct afterwards, putting one of our players in a chokehold - causing a major fight to break out. After this, they were then down to 10-men as well, but just before half-time, the Beez managed to put another goal passed Mikey to make it 4-1.
Despite what the overall scoreline may suggest, the second half was better defended and it only took the Beez until the 70th minute to score past us. We battled in the midfield and began to move the ball around nicely and create some chances for ourselves up the pitch. However, their wingers and strikers proved too clinical as they scored two goals in about 5 mins.
We managed a quick counter-attack of our own to gain a penalty in their box, which our captain Reuben Lewis effortlessly converted to make it 6-2. Just before the final whistle, the Beez dealt us our final sting of the day to make it 7-2.
