We spoke pre-game about this being a must-win, but unfortunately despite having the vast majority of possession and many more of the chances we did not finish off the game and were punished for the second week in a row for poor marking on a corner.

In the first half, we had good passages of play but were giving the ball away too easily. Neither team really had a good chance on goal and it wasn’t an exciting game by any means, we needed to step it up a gear.

And that we did in the second half after a good play 3 minutes into the half from Eliran Pinto, who won as a free-kick. Zach Shooter stepped up with a good hit, the keeper spilt it and Eli Kolach headed it home.

A bizarre situation on the 60th minute occurred where the referee gave a second yellow card to the USSR player but didn’t send him off, forgetting he’d already booked him which was very annoying.

We then had a host of chances and also defended excellently any time USSR came forward but we couldn’t finish the game. Roy Konfino had almost nothing to do in goal which is why it broke our hearts to watch us concede from a corner in almost an identical scenario to last week where we ball watched instead of marking the man, this time at the back post on the 80th minute.

We then piled on the pressure and Daniel Morali was kicked and brought down in the box on the 83rd minute, which unbelievably the referee didn’t give a penalty for but then later admitted was an error, quite astonishing as it was one of the most blatant penalties we've ever seen.

Then on the 85th-minute Niv Florentin went down the left-wing and was fouled badly and then strangled, our team descended onto the area to help him and our players who went to help at first were also attacked - it was a mess and the referee ended the game on the 85th minute because of it.

The positive is we looked good as a team and haven't lost now in 2 games, but we need to be finishing these teams off in the future that we outplay and not be outdone by set pieces.
