After three straight wins in a row in the IFLI2, Inter Blue faced the league's unbeaten leaders and champion elect, Emek Yezreel, in Jaffa on Saturday, hoping to be the first team to beat them all season.
In what is a preview for the IFLI Cup game next month, we started really well and tactically outmanoevred our opponents, creating chances and hitting them on the break.
This relentless pressure paid off in the early stages as Titi Cabuli won the ball high up and found striking partner Daniel Geron to his right, who delightfully chipped the ball over the Emek keeper to score his 11th goal of the season.
As the rain poured down in the sunshine, the game increased in its intensity and after some half-chances, Emek would eventually draw level following a good move down their left.
With the scores level at halftime, we changed things around but Emek started to take more control of the game and they were award a penalty shortly after. However, Yoav Greenberg's presence in the goal was enough to prompt a miss and the scores stayed 1-1 for the majority of the second half.
The last 15 minutes saw a flurry of goals; Emek's dominance wore us down and they scored twice to put the game to bed. Yet, a Ran Sarusi special from outside the box set up an exciting finish, although Emek hit us on the break to score their 4th as we chased an equaliser.
We have just two more league games left this season, before the all-important cup and the third INTERCLASICO takes place.
