Inter Aliyah 63-53 Elitzur Lod: Defensive Resilience Away From Home Puts Us Back at .500

December has been a tough month for our basketball team with defeats to Lod and Be'er Yaakov sobering our hopes of clinching back-to-back promotions as we face the reality of Liga Aleph.

Tuesday's fixture away to Elitzur Lod was an opportunity to bounce back and that's exactly what we did with this important victory away from home to the experienced Elitzur Lod.

The game started even and AJ Mitnick used all 10 players who were registered to the game in the first quarter. However, a defensive lapse in the last minute of the quarter saw us go down 15-19 as the buzzer sounded.

In the 2nd quarter we had our best defensive quarter of the year, with a scoreline of 26-4. Three of those points given away were unnecessary; an unsportsmanlike foul and then a technical due to something lost in translation.

Ron Changal and Omri Rotman were the catalysts of the that second quarter run, with both players coming into their own as they led the team to go in ahead at half time.

In the second half, Dore Amiram and Ido Ben Harush made some tough shots to help Lod bring it to as close as 6 points, but some big shot-making by the likes of Meir Tapiro, Sam Roche and Guy Schindler sealed the game.

Ron (13) led the team in scoring for the first time this season, while Sam and Meir (both 11) also hit double figures. There were also first points for the club for rookie Everest Sibony!

Next week we host Hapoel Brenner on Thursday.
